Retrofit NYC

A resource for New Yorkers seeking to make the buildings they own, rent or manage energy-efficient

Retrofit NYC is an information center created by the Pratt Center for Community Development to help New York property owners to upgrade their buildings for energy efficiency. Property owners can save money while doing the right thing for the environment and creating jobs for local residents. Existing buildings are responsible for nearly three-quarters of NYC’s carbon emissions.

Retrofit NYC is informed by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority Energy $mart Communities program and associated with Retrofit NYC Block by Block, a groundbreaking initiative to bring energy-efficiency improvements to New York City buildings. Developed by the Pratt Center for Community Development under the Energy $mart Communities program, Retrofit NYC Block by Block has expanded to six New York City neighborhoods with the assistance of the New York City Council, the Brooklyn Community Foundation, and other supporters. The Block by Block initiative engages residents and businesses in energy assessments and provides support in accessing financing to pay for upgrades of their properties to reduce the use of electricity, heating fuel and water.
